Gone Baby Gone

Hilary Swank, Clint Eastwood, and Morgan Freeman. Holy moly, I didn't expect that.

Master and Commander

I don't write down every movie I see, even though I think I'd like to. I've caught parts of Master and Commander with Russel Crowe a couple of times in pieces on television before, but last week I got to see the whole thing. Really well done feel. I loved the music, and even the naturalist aspects.

Broken Trail

This is the first time I've ever seen this movie in full. Even though I've seen parts of it before, it's definitely worth seeing again. Some great Robert Duvall quotes that I'd like to note if I ever see it again.

Karol, The Man who become Pope.

Quality film on the life of Pope John Paul the 2nd, showing a more in depth view of the man, the Pope, and his spiritual battles than even most Catholics would be aware. Very quote-able film. I'd love to see it, or other like it again. Made in 2005.

Legion

An interesting perspective. Definitely worth seeing. I'm getting more interested in movies that you can take something away from, that teaches you something, expands your horizons, rather than just entertains with special effects, and large doses of suspended disbelief.

The Surragates

Really enjoyed seeing all the familiar places in Boston and Lynn where a lot of the chase scenes were filmed.

The Departed

I thought it was alright. Glad I finally saw it. My favorite part was seeing all the familiar places in the scenes.

Planet of the Apes

Caught this oldie today. I don't think I've seen in since the 1980's. I was surprised to see that being released in 1968 it was even older than me.

List

I haven't posted here for quite a while. Life's been busy, but I miss keeping track of the movies I've seen lately.

I did catch both Transformers, and GI Joe in the theater.

The other day I watched this day movie titled, "The Nest," ... very French.

Re-watched half of The Guardian again; first saw in the theater in 2006 or so.

Sunshine Cleaning

A few weeks ago I caught this film with a good friend in the theater. I guess it was by the same group who did "Little Miss Sunshine," a flick I haven't seen yet, but am somewhat familiar with, and admit I should have on my list.

Terminator 3, Rise of the Machines

I guess by the time this came out in 2003 I had already grown tired of the pre- governor Arnold. I didn't get to catch the whole flick, but I would see this again. There's been some good parts that I would like to post. I'd like to learn how to take clips I like and post them to YouTube.

Officer and a Gentleman

I had forgotten just how well done this 1982 film was done. It's definitely a Top 25 Movie for me. I can't guess how many times I've seen it. It first came out when I was eleven. It's really a good movie, and for me it's a defining film in that ... well, there's more to the story. Maybe I'll add to this another day. There's a good friend of mine out there somewhere who knows why I like this movie so much. I'm looking forward to seeing it again. There's a lot more I could write here.

Hero Wanted

Cuba Gooding Jr. and an interesting cast that easily could have played the neighborhood where I grew up. I should look them up on www.imdb.com sometime. Good Movie, I'd check it out.

The Namesake

Nice independent film. I think there's a book by this name also. If so, I'd like to read it because the movie from a literary perspective was pretty good.

The Last King of Scotland

Academy Award Winner. I was able to see it in the theatre a couple of years ago. I might have this as a Top 25 movie. Wow, I'm looking forward to making that list. Very interesting film of culture, and from a historical perspective of Eadie Armine. (spelling?)

Fistful of Dollars (1964)

You gotta like Clint, and these Spagetti Westerns that were made before I was even born. Classic Clint. With movies like this being the hits of the day, no wonder why 70's kids grew up yearning to be free.

Television Shows

I might have a blog for television shows that I'd like to do, but I don't have plans to make up a separate one for television shows that I really liked. Since, I don't just find entertainment in watching movies, and if I do get in front of a television I like to catch some shows to. I do favor, and have a penchant for the laugh lines of 70's era television. I've found few shows that can come close to matching to quality or frequency of humor in the 70's. (I think the laughter still lives in Maine, but few places I travel to embrace it quite like they do in the State of Maine.)

I'll save some of the best into this post, and add to it from time to time.

Classic Television had to be:

Beverly Hillbillies, Sanford and Son, Good Times, Hogan's Heroes.

I sort of missed the Gun Smoke era, and it's twenty year run, I barely remember Bonanza, or F-Troop, but they're shows I'd love to catch up on now that I'm older.

--

I didn't what much television in the 90's, but I like Tool Time whenever I watch it today.

I totally missed Seinfeld, but catch a show from time to time.

I'll keep this running

Crocodile Dundee

Must be a Top 50 Movie -

Proves that Love really can move the world. Even in New York. Might've been an eighties movie, but captured it's day well, and continues to be a classic.

The Last Samurai (2)

As I catch the ending battle of the Last Samurai once again, I can't help but contemplate that the battle that still exists today, and which will be our battle as people of the world again one day is whether or not we will win the battle within to return to not battle with anything but honorable weapons, or even succeed in the inner battle to the degree that peace will once again live and reign in the world because the last battle was done with honor.

I doubt greatly that the Kingdom can come on Earth as is it in Heaven until as a people of the world we can collectively come to this place together in such a way that this is communicated even across the lines of battle before they even begin, and as nations we need to act honorable, to bring honor to ourselves, and those whose ideology is diametrically different from own own. (more on this in the book)

Troy

Great effort at filming an Epic.

"I'll tell you are a secret. The Gods envy us. Right now we are more lovely than we will ever be. We will never be here again."
